So just yesterday on May the 14th, I competed in the Red Bull Manny Mania, which is a skateboarding contest that is held every year is different cities. This was my first ever contest that I have entered and I was super nervous. Just to give you a little description of what the contest is about, it is a contest where you have to do manuels during the whole time you are skating. I would go into some detail on how the contest works but I’ll just leave you with a video to find out for yourself.
Anyways I was super stoked that I got to enter, although I had to wait on my father to come up there and help sign me up since I was under the age of 18, but the feeling I got sitting there waiting for my round or what they called “heat” to come up was nerve racking. I was in the last heat and I had enough time to practice in between heats. When it came up for my heat to go I went for it, I threw down every trick that came to my head. That hard part was trying to think of what trick to do after you landed one. To add to all of that we only had 8 minutes. So in those 6 minutes I was sweating hard, breathing hard and thinking my hardest. I land some pretty good tricks and got a lot of props from the crowd cheering me on and stuff. But sadly, I didn’t make it to the final round.
It was a pretty good experience, I just can’t wait for next year so I can compete again.
I leave you with this video of the Red Bull Manny Mania 2010 World Finals 2010. Its the same kind of skating I went through just with the world finalist.
