Hip Hop Old Heads

People that continuously hate on Future, lil Yachty, 21 Savage, and so on need to stop being closed minded. I’m not a fan of these artist but I appreciate their work and give them a listen here and there. What you have to realize is that these artist speak for our generation. Guess what our generation is doing? Drinking lean, smoking weed, doing drugs and going to hardcore rave parties. These rappers are the offspring of who we are as millennials.

Now of course old heads are going to say that they “aren’t real MC’s” or “Their music is garbage,” but listen to yourself! How can you have hate, or a strong dislike against an artist who succeeded with the same given opportunities that most of us have? Music changes with each generation, it won’t be the same. That “Golden Age” of hip hop that all those old heads are yearning for is over. Kendrick and J. Cole aren’t bringing back hip-hop, they’re creating new ways of sharing stories. Future and Yachty aren’t destroying hip-hop, they’re having fun.

As an artist, I believe in the freedom of speech and the freedom to create what you like. Nobody stood up in front of the entire Hip-Hop/Rap Industry in the 1990’s and said “This is how our music will sound like and it will be like this for the rest of its existence.” That’s not how it works! Let us create our music, let Yachty sing terribly over Auto-Tune, and let Desiigner use his copy paste methods. It’s all music, it’s all art, appreciate it.

Philosophical Skateboarding

back crook
This is me hitting a back crook on this metal box my buddy used to have.

When it comes to skateboarding I love the sport. It gives me the freedom and space I need to roll around in a concrete jungle. Its always a pleasure to meet other skaters and build connections. One thing that I always questions is when the younger kids. Theres a little boy across the street from me who just got a skateboard for Christmas. As he rolled back and forth on his front porch I wondered, “How good will he get? Will he turn pro?” I always ask that becasue during my journey on a skateboard I have watched people who could barely ride a board, shred the bowls better than me at the skatepark.

Its always a fascinating thought when it crosses my mind. I get engulfed in the future and what it has in store for skaters all around. I wonder if other people think the same thing too?

1.11.11

Look at the title, then look at your calender, then your phone. Then anything else with the numbers, 1.11.11. Thats a nice date right? RIGHT! All through out 2011 there will be a bunch of 1’s going on. Well at least I think so. I think there may be like 1 or 2 1’s going on but that will be about it. So have an nice 1.11.11 and for people who missed this day, it wasn’t much of nothing. Just a day with a bunch of ones in the date. PEACE!

The past, the present, and the future

If you wish to change the past then you are going to alter your future. Things that happen to you in life happen for a reason. Whether they are good or bad. Just think if you would have never went to the store that evening to pick up some milk, would you have ever met your wife? Exactly! Even if the situation is bad, good always finds its way through.

So if you have always had it implanted in your mind that you want to change the past then you should take it out because if you could change time and changed one little thing, then everything is going to be changed and you my not like it.

Another reason things happen in life that may seem bad is that you don’t repeat history. Why do you think we learn it? Its so that when it comes to a time similar to an event that happened in your past that you did not like you remember what you did wrong and do it right or what ever came your way that was bad, you avoided it. By that, you do not repeat the past and learn from your mistakes. So be glad of what you have here before you and that what happened in the past happened, for good or the bad.
